Can you help with my butt problem?

No point intended!

I have been stripping the butt ends of my Gretsch snare strainers. The lightning throw-offs have the snare strainer adjustment on the butt end, and I have stripped three out of the five Gretsch snares that I own. Has any one of you had the same problem, and what did you do to fix the problem without replacing with a different strainer system, i.e. nickel works or other after market throw-off?
Lee Smith (Vinnie's Tech and owner of Drum Paradise) told me that Vinnie has the same problem, but is able to call Gretsch for brand new replacement parts. If there is a way that any of you have fixed the problem without having to spend tons of $$$$$ for Gretsch replacement parts, please let me know.

I had the same problem with my Broadkaster snare. I ordered a new one through a local store, but Explorers Drums has them for $64 and you'll probably get one quicker through them. I didn't research replacing it with a cheaper part, sorry. It's tough parting with $200 just for hardware, but the upside is you'll have your snares back. I'm VERY gentle with the strainer these days as a result.

yamaha hasone with the same hole pattern that will work, i did it for my snare.
